Click on the images at the right to view animations of the fields inside the deflecting mode cavity. These simulations were done using the commercial RF modelling code HFSS 9.2. The geometry shown corresponds to the steel prototype which is currently being constructed. The resonant RF frequency in these simulations is 9.5749 GHz. The final cavity design will have a similar geometry but will be scaled up to a frequency of 9.59616 GHz, which is the driving frequency that is produced by our oscillator and frequency multiplier.
In the first animation, the geometry in view represents a quartered cross-section of the cavity. The central cell (of nine) is on the left with the waveguide coupler. The second animation is an end-on view of the cross-section of the center cell and waveguide.
