Beam profile monitors are typically based on a pneumatic vacuum feedthrough capable of inserting a scintillating screen or OTR foil into the electron beam path. The resulting light is reflected out of the vacuum enclosure into a camera (CCD), coupled to a monitor. The read-out image is a transverse profile of the electron beam. Further analysis with a frame grabber will yield quantitative information about transverse spot size, beam centroid position, and intensity.
